vit_rThe Swiss history contains many nice legends. One of them tells about a peaceful end of the first war of Kappel in 1529.
The the Protestant Zurich declared a war and its armed forces marched towards the Catholic canton Zug. The armies met on the border and the leaders started negotiations. According to this legend, a soldier placed a milk can on the line between the two armies. Next to it were placed pieces of bread for everyone to help himself. This was free of charge and the soldiers from both sides were unable to resist.
We do not know what was in that milk and why the negotiations had ended without battle. The Catholic side was forced to dissolve its alliance with the Austrian Habsburgs and the peace was short. The Second War of Kappel had started two years later. On 11 October 1531 the Catholic forces had crushed the Zurich troops and killed about 500 Protestants. Among the dead were the leader of the Reformation in Switzerland Huldrych Zwingli and twenty-four other Protestant pastors.
The legend of the "milk soup of Kappel" is used until now to illustrate strong bonds of brotherhood among the Swiss, who can friendly overcome divisions in small questions such as the God.
I cannot claim that I have a deep understanding of the modern Switzerland but I suspect that the Swiss idea of a successful friendly dialog does not work if the disagreement involves money for at least one party. I have seen no exceptions.

А теперь вопрос: Очень нужна хорошая цитата про то, что начинать спор с добровольного отказа от главных требований -- это не сближение позиций, а дорога в абсолютный проигрыш. (Да, они этого не понимают. Их кормили со школы Каппельским супом.)
Обычно в таких случаях консультанты придумывают мутно-многозначительное высказывание какого-нибудь китайского военачальника, но хочется чего-нибудь реального и из европейцев. На русском не надо, потому что самое правильное описание действий швейцарских борцов за справедливость описывается поговоркой "Коготок увяз -- всей птичке пропасть." Причём, увязает он не в самой хорошей субстанции.
Можно чего-нибудь из историков про то, что потеря крепости приводит к потере страны. Вопрос на столько элементарный, что воспринимается на уровне букваря. Но тут буквари писали не очень честные люди.
