Having a resume begs for you to go into that big machine that looks for relevant keywords, and begs for you to get a job as a cog in a giant machine. Just more fodder for the corporate behemoth. That might be fine for average folks looking for an average job, but is that what you deserve?

Great jobs, world class jobs, jobs people kill for... those jobs don't get filled by people emailing in resumes. Ever.

This are right words but the idea itself is unproductive. Unfortunately even a business plan must have a section "Management team CV(s)"

I had a pleasure to talk to one guy, specializing in helping executives to change or find jobs. His theory was to send resume the last, only after 3-4 lengthy conversations by phone or face to face, and when people are already definitely interested. The reasoning was that majority executive skills are transferable, but it is never clear from the resume. So it is better to have a few conversations to figure out what people need, explain to them which parts of your experience have prepared you for it, and only when they are mostly sold and want to check off the formalities to send them specially tailored resume.
